For most card schemes, there’s no time limit for processing refunds.
The following list shows the applicable limits per scheme:
American Express – No time limit
Diners Club International – No time limit
Discover – 10 days
Mastercard – Recommends up to six months, unless applicable laws or regulations say otherwise
Visa – No time limit except for token transactions, for which the limit is one year
