Managing lost disputes

If you lost a dispute you can argue your case further by escalating the case to arbitration. But you should note the following points before considering arbitration:

  • You can submit additional evidence at this stage (unless it is a Visa fraud or authorization dispute). Your evidence should show why the dispute is now resolved, or why the issuer’s argument for rejecting your case is invalid.

  • Arbitrations can cost a lot to pursue and take a long time to resolve. The costs of arbitration may well outweigh the disputed amount.

If you do want to take your case to arbitration, contact our Disputes Team.

For more information on arbitration, see our Documentation site.

Note

Arbitration rulings can be partial, meaning you only recover part of the disputed amount.
