The geographic scope of a card payout defines whether it's considered domestic or cross-border. Card schemes set their own rules which determine how a transaction's geographic scope is calculated, using the following values:

Acquirer country - The country Checkout.com's legal entity is incorporated in.

Destination country - The country in which the card payout recipient's card was issued in.

Merchant country - The country the merchant's legal entity is incorporated in. This is the transaction's origin country.

Sender country - The country of the card payout sender's residential or registered address. This value is not used in the geographic scope calculation.
The following table shows the scheme's geographic scope definitions:
