How to find a transaction's acquirer reference number (ARN)?

The Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) is a 23-digit number generated when a transaction is requested via a payment gateway. This enables you to trace and verify each transaction as it moves through the payment flow.

You can view the ARN for any transaction processed by Checkout.com in the Dashboard:

  1. Sign in to the Dashboard.
  2. Go to Payments > All payments.
  3. Search for the payment you want to view the transactions for, and select it.
  4. On the Payment details page, under Payment timeline, expand the transaction you want to view the ARN_._

The ARN is a card scheme level tracking number. Standard customer service representatives for banks usually cannot search for it. Inform your customer that when they contact their bank, they should ask to be transferred to the Disputes or Electronic Funds department. They should have the access required to trace the ARN.
