Payments failed with response codes 20096 and 20068 on September 7, 2026

On September 7, 2026 between 13:55 and 14:01 UTC, a problem at a third-party acquirer caused payments made with Egypt-issued cards to fail with response codes 20096 and 20068. The issue is now resolved.

What happened

For a short period on September 7, 2026, one of the third-party acquirer connections we use to route payments degraded. Payments sent through that connection for cards issued in Egypt either timed out or were declined.

Processing returned to normal the same day. Payments routed through other connections, and payments made with cards issued outside Egypt, processed normally throughout.

What you saw

Affected payments failed with response code 20096 or 20068. Only payments made with cards issued in Egypt were affected.

Because these payments were declined or timed out, no funds were taken from your customer.

What you need to do

Payments are processing normally, so you can retry any affected payment again as a new payment.

If you want to confirm which of your payments were affected, contact your account manager or request support.
