Your settlement payout time depends on the following factors:
Settlement time zone
By default, transactions are batched for an entire day (midnight to midnight) in UTC. If your settlement time zone is UTC, settlements are generated at 02:00am UTC. For other time zones, they're generated at 05:00am local time.
To manage your time zone, see Update settlement time zone.
Settlement speed
Your settlement speed varies by region and currency, ranging from minutes to days. It's usually represented as T+X, where:
- T is the transaction date.
- X is the number of business days until the funds become available.
Settlement latency
Settlement latency is how long it takes the payment method to settle Checkout.com. This varies by payment method. For example:
- Credit cards – Up to seven days, depending on the country
- Bank transfers – Up to three days
- PayPal/Klarna – Up to three days
While payments are approved almost instantly, the settlement process typically takes one to three business days for most payment methods.
Settlement arrears
Funds from the payments you process do not mature on the same day. Under our standard three-day arrears model, funds mature three business days after the day you processed them, and then settle. Only business days count towards maturity. Weekends and national holidays do not count towards maturity.
This means everything you process on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday matures together on the following Wednesday:
| Processing day | Maturity day | Settlement day |
| Monday | Thursday | Thursday |
| Tuesday | Friday | Friday |
| Wednesday | Monday | Monday |
| Thursday | Tuesday | Tuesday |
| Friday | Wednesday | Wednesday |
| Saturday | Wednesday | Wednesday |
| Sunday | Wednesday | Wednesday |
To confirm the arrears that apply to you, contact your account manager or request support.
National holidays
If a settlement day would fall on a national holiday in the country your entity is onboarded in, the settlement will be delayed until the next business day.
For more information, see Why is my settlement delayed?.
Payout thresholds
You can set a payout threshold on your account, to delay settlement payouts until a threshold is reached. For example, if your threshold is 1000 GBP and your settlement is 950 GBP, funds are not paid out and the settlement status remains Pending.
To check whether a payout threshold applies to your account or remove one that is no longer required, contact your account manager or request support.
Gateway-only services
If you use Checkout.com for gateway services only, your acquirer settles you directly and controls your settlement schedule. We cannot investigate the timing of those settlements. Contact your acquirer directly.
Request proof of payment
If your settlement status is Complete but the funds have not reached your bank account, you can ask Checkout.com for an MT103 to trace the transfer with your bank. See How to get an MT103 for a settlement payout.
