The Mastercard monitoring program for gaming and gambling merchants was introduced on June 30, 2025.
It applies to merchants processing under merchant category codes (MCCs) 7800, 7801, 7802, 7995, and 9406 that are based in the APAC, MENA, or US regions.
Merchants under the scope of the program must verify or authenticate transactions using one or more of the following methods:
- Card verification value (CVV)
- 3D Secure (3DS)
- A fully authenticated network token
- A merchant-initiated transaction, linking to an earlier CVV verified or authenticated transaction
