What order are authorization attempts performed in for processor routing?

When you configure processor routing, we always attempt to route the payment authorization to the processors you specify, in the order you set.

If an attempt fails, we attempt authorization with the next processor you specified in the payment request's ``routing.attempts array. For example, if the authorization attempt fails due to:

  • Ineligibility – The card used for the payment is not eligible to be processed with the processor.
  • Decline – The processor declined the attempt.
  • Invalid scheme value – The scheme value you provided may be invalid. For a list of accepted values, see Configure processor rules.
