Incremental authorization and overcapture are separate features. Although they can achieve similar outcomes, they work differently and are not interoperable.
- Incremental authorization uses additional authorization requests to increase the authorized amount.
- Overcapture applies to the original authorization and lets you capture above the authorized amount within the applicable percentage limit and merchant category codes (MCCs).
You cannot follow an incremental authorization with overcapture.
