Can I use an account funding transaction for a merchant-initiated transaction?

For Visa transactions, you can process the following types of merchant-initiated transactions (MITs) as account funding transactions (AFTs):

  • Recurring payments –  You can store your customer's card details and process recurring payments as AFTs. For example, to enable customers to set up recurring top-ups to their wallets.
You cannot process Installment payments as AFTs.

  • Unscheduled payments – You can store your customer's card details and process an unscheduled payment at a later date. For example, to enable your customers to automatically reload their wallets when their Available balance falls below a certain threshold.

For information on how to implement these payments, see Perform an account funding transaction.
