When processing Apple Pay or Google Pay payments, you may notice that the card details displayed in the Dashboard or your back-end do not match the customer’s actual card details.
This is because digital wallets enhance security by substituting the customer’s real card details (FPAN) with encrypted, tokenized values (DPAN) as follows:
FPAN (Funding Primary Account Number) – The card number associated with the customer’s account.
DPAN (Device Primary Account Number) – A tokenized substitute for the FPAN, provided by the wallet and displayed in the Dashboard.
Using DPANs ensures that sensitive card details remain protected while securely processing payments.
