The Account Name Inquiry (ANI) check is part of the card verification process and occurs during payment authorization. However, ANI is only triggered if authentication is successful.
Therefore, it is skipped if authentication fails. For example, due to a failed 3DS check.
Other reasons for ANI to be skipped can include:
- The issuer does not support zero-amount card verifications. Your card verification is declined and the ANI check is skipped.
- The issuer does not support ANI checks. In this case, you receive a
not_supported
response.
