Requirement: You must provide the Trace ID for all Europe and United Kingdom (UK) Mastercard merchant-initiated transactions (MITs). This includes:
- Subsequent subscription payments
- Recurring transactions
- Unscheduled transactions
A Trace ID is an identifier used by issuers and schemes to reference the original transaction that set up a subscription, recurring payment series, or unscheduled payment agreement.
You must provide the Trace ID in the previous_payment_id field when you make a call to the Payments endpoint.
Mastercard may issue fines for payments that do not include the Trace ID when required.
