Transitioning to local time settlements for Checkout.com APAC clients

To ensure a smooth to local time settlements for APAC clients (New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Singapore, or Hong Kong), it's important to understand how settlement generation works and the potential overlaps that can occur when switching from UTC.

Standard Settlement Times

  • Default UTC Settlements: generated at 2 AM UTC daily.
  • Local Time Settlements: generated at 5 AM local time of the Checkout.com entity you contract with.

Generation overlap issue

For APAC clients, the first local time settlement generated at 5 AM may fall on the same UTC day as the previous 2 AM UTC settlement. This overlap results in the first local time settlement being skipped until the next business day.

Recommended action

To avoid this issue, we recommend changing your settlement time zone during the following window:

  • Between Friday 5 AM local time and before Monday 2 AM UTC.

By adjusting the settlement time zone within this period, you can ensure that the first local time settlement is not skipped.
